The Qatar Calendar House announced that the sun will completely be perpendicular to the Tropic of Cancer in the northern hemisphere, on the morning of Monday, 11 of the month of Dhul-Qi’dah 1442 AH, June 21, 2021 AD. at 6:32 am Doha local time.

Dr. Bashir Marzouk (the astronomer expert at the Qatar Calendar House) said, "This day will be the longest day for almost all the residents of the northern hemisphere, including the residents of Qatar, where the phenomenon of the summer solstice will occur, while the situation will be the opposite for the inhabitants of the southern hemisphere, the phenomenon of the winter solstice will occur on the same day.

Dr. Marzouk added, "the phenomenon of the summer solstice comes after the phenomenon of the vernal equinox that occurred during the month of March, as the sun continued its apparent movement gradually towards the north after perpendicular to the equator on the day of the vernal equinox, and the length of the day gradually increased for the residents of the northern hemisphere, and this will reach the gradient climaxes with the longest day and shortest night on the day of the summer solstice, while the opposite will happen on the same day on the southern hemisphere, where the shortest day and longest night on this day are in the southern hemisphere.

The phenomenon of the summer solstice is considered one of the important astronomical phenomena, as the inhabitants of the globe depend on it (and on the rest of the four seasons) to know the climatic changes.
