Qatar To Revise National Education Curriculum

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has revised the national educational curriculum taking into consideration all constructive remarks and feedback received through systematic means.

The most important plan was creating electronic link on the website of the ministry “ww.edu.gov.qa” to facilitate the process of receiving and documenting observations by teachers and coordinators and all parties to the educational process and society, and through the hotline and social networking sites of the Ministry.

Fawzia Abdulaziz Al Khater, Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, said that the contribution of evaluation and review to the learning resource is expected from the educational community as a key partner in any educational development process.

Al Khater noted the principles of reviewing and developing the national educational curriculum, which aims to achieve Qatar’s National Vision 2030 through a complete international standard educational system.

She explained that it was necessary to conduct a comprehensive and systematic review of the national educational curriculum of Qatar to keep pace with the principle of continuous improvement and development.

Al Khater explained that a number of experts and specialised bodies were hired to develop and adopt these plans. She said that special committees and teams were formed to implement the project of developing and revising the curricula. She pointed out that a Higher Steering Committee was formed under the chairmanship of HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education to supervise the implementation of the project.

A team was formed under the chairmanship of the Department of Curricula and Learning Resources, with the participation of specialized members of the Ministry.

She pointed out that the strategic direction of the project is to make a standards-based educational approach with a focus on competencies.
