Qatar National Library (QNL) is hosting its first ever book swap in the Children’s Library section where children will be able to swap their old non-fiction and fiction books.

To participate in the book swap which will take place from 4pm to 7pm on 13 July 2018, children up to the age of 12 years must register here. A maximum of 150 children will be allowed to participate in the book swap and swap a maximum of five books.

The books may be from any genre (non-fiction, fiction, graphic novels, easy readers, picture books, etc.). Books in all languages will be welcome, but must be culturally appropriate and in good condition without any tears, rips or bent edges.

After the children donate their books, they will each receive a ticket from QNL containing details of the books they are swapping with the library and the day assigned for the exchange. The children can come back on July 18 or 19 from 3pm to 6pm to collect the same number and the same kind of books from the library that they swapped in.

All unswapped books will be seen as donations and will become part of the Children’s Library. It will be up to the librarians to decide how to deal with the matter. It is important to note that those children that are registering for the book swap must keep in mind that the selection of books available will be based on the kind of books the children will bring with them for the book swap, so QNL cannot guarantee that specific titles and authors will be available or not (Source).

Are your children excited about the book swap at QNL? Which books will they swap? Do let us know what you think in our comments section.
