The Public Prosecution issued a statement on 20 July 2023 that with reference to what was monitored on the social media platform Twitter, some of the tweeters insulted a female citizen after making an achievement for Qatar in one of the sports fields, pointing out that such behaviour would harm the public interest and constitute as a criminal offence.
The statement added that the users of those accounts were arrested and investigated, as H.E., the Attorney-General, ordered their pretrial detention.
