The Ministry of Municipality tweeted on 15 August 2023 the kingfish hunting ban period from 15 August to 15 October 2023 for the 2023 season.

It was stated that the legal size allowed for fishing is 45 cm and that kingfish are of important economic value; therefore, their conservation is essential.

It was also mentioned that the use of fishing nets and fishing boats is prohibited during this period, and only fishing rods are allowed.

Furthermore, the ministry stated that the penalty for the violation of the regulation is not more than QR 5,000.
