The CEO of Katara Cultural Village Dr. Khalid Al Sulaiti announced on his Twitter page that Katara's famous pigeon towers were going to be demolished on 16 February 2022 at dawn, to make way for a new set of pigeon towers that will be built to higher engineering requirements and standards.
