International and regional blogging experts will converge in Qatar on December 12 to share their knowledge on the popular shared online journal websites during the forum and interactive workshops on “Mudawanat: All About Blogging” hosted by the Supreme Council of Information and Communication Technology (ictQatar). The event will be held at the Sharq Village and Spa from 9.30am to 3.30pm. The Peninsula and Al Sharq newspapers are media partners of Mudawanat, with ForumOne Communications and Al Jazeera Talk being the supporting partners. There will also be two interactive workshops during the event, one for those new to blogging to provide them with ideas on creating blogs and attracting readers, and a second one for more experienced bloggers looking to taking their blogs up to the next level. ictQatar views blogging as a great way to help increase the amount of Arabic language content online. At Mudawanat, ictQatar will also be officially launching its own blog, Digital Qatar, which will focus on the latest trends in information and communication technologies. The first postings can be read at www.digitalqatar.qa. “Blogging is a tremendous way for people to share their thoughts and engage in society, whether they want to talk about sports, women’s rights, business trends or technology,” said Howaida Nadim, ictQatar’s Communications Director. ictQatar encourages existing bloggers and people interested in blogging to attend. Mudawanat will feature the keynote speaker — Jeremiah Owyang — a fresh, young voices on the social media transformation of business who writes a daily blog called Web Strategy by Jeremiah (http://webstrategist.com/blog. This will be followed by a panel discussion in which Ahmad Hamzawi, an Engineering Manager at Google, who is leading a pioneering project on Arabic language Internet products, will be present, besides other experts. http://thepeninsulaqatar.com/Display_news.asp?section=Local_News&subsection=Qatar+News&month=November2009&file=Local_News2009111743433.xml
