The Government Communications Office (GCO) is following with great regret the mutual abuses that have overshadowed social media outlets recently.

We call upon all citizens and residents in Qatar to avoid slipping into the abuse of people, communities and their leaders on social media platforms, in line with the true principals of Islam and Arab ethics.

This call is driven from the directives of His Highness (H.H.) the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in his first speech after the blockade, in which His Highness commended the Qatari people’s adherence to values and principals even in times of differences, and stressed the need to continue on this approach.

Qatar had earlier responded to the appeal of H.H. the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on 24 October 2017, to preserve the rights of future generations, heal the wounds and avoid slipping into the abuse. The GCO had also called on everybody to refrain from the exchange of abuses.

The GCO reiterates that its appeal reaffirms the need for the citizens and residents of Qatar to commit to authentic values when responding to abuses and fabrications because their case is just and does not require exaggeration, and their defense of the homeland is based on justice, fairness and objective facts.
