Qatari mountaineering champion and adventurer Fahad Badar suffered an unfortunate accident 8,000 meters above the top of Pakistan's Broad Peak Mountain, where his run-out of oxygen stock, coupled with extreme weather conditions, caused him "frostbite" and other damage and is just days away from amputating his fingers.
Hero Fahad Badar, narrated the details of what happened to him in his recent adventure in a tone filled with faith, satisfaction amid the many challenges, saying:
"I was climbing mount 'Broad Peak' and its height is 8,000 meters, which is ranked 12th in the world in terms of height. It's known as a difficult mountain difficult to climb, and next to it is Mount 'K2 second highest mountain in the world.
"The journey lasted two months, and on the day of climbing to the summit that lasted 3 or 4 days, and after I reached the summit there was more than one accident, when I returned at an altitude of 8,000 meters, a Russian climber fell and they were trying to save her, so I was late at the summit for 5 hours and ran out of oxygen, and because of that I was hallucinogenic and had to spend the whole night on top without oxygen."
"Thank God, on the second day I was rescued and got off the mountain. Unfortunately, because of the oxygen on top, I suffered several damages to my hand, as well as brain enlargement and hallucinations, and now I have amnesia because of what happened that night.
"After returning to Qatar and trying to treat for a month, unfortunately, all my left fingers will have to be amputated."
"I think that this thing will not prevent me from practising my normal life in the future or practising my sport, because in the end, this is my destiny from God and with the mission and determination that man can do anything and this is what God wrote to me."
