Education to remain Qatar's primary investment

H.E. the Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mohammed bin Abdulwahed Al Hammadi said Wednesday that education will remain the primary investment for the State of Qatar, given its an investment in human capital that makes great returns in all fields.

His Excellency was speaking during the annual reception ceremony held for new Qatari teachers who will begin in the new 2019/2020 academic careers. His Excellency praised the new teachers for joining the profession, stressing that it is one of the main pillars of Qatar's progress.

H.E. the minister said that the quality of education will remain the responsibility of all teachers in the country, stressing that they have a great responsibility in preparing strong cadres that can provide great services to Qatar in many fields.

Al Hammadi said that the 2019-2020 academic year will see 219 teachers from Qatar join public schools. He noted that the ministry through its "Tomouh" program sends students to the College of Education at Qatar University. A total of 511 students joined the program, 420 of which were Qataris and 91 were residents who will all play a part in providing the educational system with teachers. His Excellency said the ministry is working on attracting the College of Education graduates outside of its program. The ministry is also cooperating with the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor, and Social Affairs to attract students from other colleges in Qatar University such as the College of Arts and Sciences.

His Excellency stressed that the Ministry of Education and Higher Education is doing its utmost to provide an inspiring educational environment that appreciates teachers, expressing his thanks to all the ministry's partners who contributed to adding more Qatari teachers.
