Under the patronage of H.E. the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani, the 8th Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition "AGRITEQ" kicks off Tuesday. It will take place from March 23 to March 27 at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center.

A total of 208 companies from the agriculture, environment, food, and animal production industries will take part in the exhibition that is spread over 23000 meters squared. There will also be more than 42 countries participating through their embassies and trade bureaus in the state.

AGRITEQ is one of the leading regional and international platforms for the exchange of expertise in the agricultural field. The exhibition focuses on modern agricultural innovations that support national plans for increasing agricultural production in order to meet local demand in line with the national strategy for food security.

The exhibition will be divided into separate areas that focus on a particular aspect of the agricultural sector. The sidelines of the exhibition will see the inauguration of the Middle-East's largest plant factory, which will help increase self-sufficiency from various types of vegetables over the course of the entire year, rather than being available on a seasonal basis.

VeteQ for instance will be dedicated to veterinary services. While FoodteQ will focus solely on the latest innovations in food packaging and production.

Despite the extraordinary circumstances dictated by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment remained keen on organizing this year's edition. The ministry took all the required precautionary measures to ensure the health and safety of all visitors and participants.

Those wishing to attend will have to register their interest via the exhibition's website. After they do so, they will be sent a barcode that will allow them to enter the exhibition's venue. Visitors must also have an Ehteraz app with a green color and must wear the mask at all times. Children will not be allowed into the venue this year.
