Winters in Qatar are absolutely wonderful and here is another way to enjoy the cool winter evenings while also watching your favourite films. Get your popcorn ready as the DFI Drive-in Cinema at Lusail will surely be an enjoyable experience for you and your loved ones. The ILoveQatar.net team went to the screening recently to give you all the steps that are involved, right from booking the tickets, ordering yummy food to having a great time there! Let’s get straight to it!

What is the DFI Drive-in Cinema?

The DFI Drive-in Cinema, as the name suggests is an open-air screening of some of the best films out there. It is being conducted by Doha Film Institute, in partnership with Qatar National Tourism Council. Visitors get to enjoy a wonderful drive-in experience watching screenings of different movies, Disney classics and even football matches, right from the comfort of their cars!

How to book tickets?

• The first step is to look at the schedule and select your favourite screening. To view the latest schedule, click here: https://dfi.eventive.org/schedule

• The next step is to select your preferred lot at the screening. Just click on the lot you want to select and click on continue.
• The next step is to complete the process by purchasing your ticket.
• The price of the ticket is per car and it varies from QR 100-QR 150 per car. If you are a Qatar Museums Culture Pass holder, you can get a 20% discount on the ticket price.

What are the steps when you get there?

• See to that you are at the venue at least 15 minutes prior to the screening to avoid any traffic jams.

• When you get to the venue, you will be asked to show the ticket and also the ‘green status’ on the EHTERAZ application for all the members in the car, above the age of 18. Each e-ticket is valid for one car only.

• Then you will be directed to the entrance and upon entering, the staff will guide you to a lot (seat) that you had booked.

• You can find rows of lots where the cars can be parked at.
• Once you park at your designated seat (lot), you are allowed to set up to 2 chairs within the parking space allotted to you to enjoy the screening.
• You can then tune into 88.3 FM radio frequency to receive the audio for the screening.

• Now all you have to do it to sit back, relax and enjoy!

• After the movie is over, the staff will guide you to the exit gate which is located on the right side, when you face the screen.

How to order food?

• You are allowed to bring your own food and snacks to the venue and you also have the option of ordering food.
• Note that you can order via the talabat Qatar app only. No in-person orders will be taken.
• You will be given a laminated paper with your lot number, a QR code and information on how to use/order food through the talabat app written on it at the checkpoint.
• You simply have to follow the instructions, chose what you're craving and select - Deliver to current location - DFI Drive-in.
• Provide your parking lot number in your order and the food will be delivered to right your vehicle on scooters by the talabat riders.
• Be responsible, don't litter and dispose of the waste properly.

What are the rules to be followed while you’re there?

There are certain rules to be followed while you’re there and they are as below. The instructions are also displayed on the screen, before the screening.

• A maximum of 4 people above the age of 12 are allowed per vehicle.
• Kids who are under the age of 12 can accompany adults up to the legal capacity of their vehicle. As per DFI, a five-seater car can have 1 adult and 4 children, or 2 adults and 3 children, etc.
• Once you park in your lot, you must switch off your engine and your headlights.
  
• You can use your hazard lights to get the attention of a staff member or security.
  
• You will not be able to sit beside or on top of your vehicle. Stand through the sunroof is also not allowed.
• Adhere to the 20 km/h speed limit and be aware of the loose gravel.
• Honking horns, flashing headlights, excessive volume from car speakers and revving engines are not allowed.

Overall, this is a unique experience and is definitely one of the things to do as a family or with friends in Doha.
