In a statement released on their social media accounts, Qatar Airways clarified regarding the entry restrictions to Qatar saying that there have been no changes as per the Qatari government rules and regulations.

"Any news declaring that only Qatari Nationals are allowed entry to Qatar is untrue and residents are encouraged to check the validity of all information through the correct sources. Discover Qatar is aware of false images of their website circulating that have been modified by external parties to spread untrue information," Qatar Airways mentioned.

The airlines added "For details about the process for returning to the State of Qatar, details of the countries designated as low-risk, and quarantine measures in place, visit the Ministry of Public Health website or Qatar Portal website. As the safety and security of our travelers and staff are important to us, all leisure sales for hotels, tours & excursions booking have been suspended up to and including 31 May 2021."

Qatar Cabinet has reimposed COVID-19 restrictions amid the surge in cases but has mentioned the continuation of the current travel and return policy to the State of Qatar and the quarantine policy, and the updating of the list of countries included in the green list of Coronavirus (Covid) -19) by the Ministry of Public Health periodically.

Discover Qatar is currently accepting these types of quarantine bookings until May 31, 2021:

According to the Discover Qatar website, Entry into Qatar is currently only allowed for:

  • Qatari nationals
  • the children and spouses of Qatari citizens
  • Permanent resident permit holders
  • Regular resident permit holders with QID (subject to ‘Exceptional Entry Permit’ approval)
  • GCC citizens.

Pre-approved QID resident permit holders are required to obtain ‘Exceptional Entry Permit’ approval via the Qatar Portal. QID residents who are currently in the State of Qatar and wish to travel and return will automatically receive an ‘Exceptional Entry Permit’ upon departure.

You will not be allowed to board your flight or cross the Abu Samra land border if you do not have a correct Discover Qatar Welcome Home hotel voucher.

"Please do not book a “Welcome Home Package” until you have read the FAQ’s, you know what type of quarantine you will be required to complete, and you have the approval to travel to Qatar," Discover Qatar stressed on its website.
