[UPDATED: February 15, 2021]

In an update on February 15 on its website, Discover Qatar announced that arrivals into Qatar from the UK, Denmark, the Netherlands and South Africa are now able to book all quarantine hotels.

Starting February 14, previous exemptions from hotel quarantine no longer apply for people returning back to Qatar from countries not on the green list, according to the Ministry of Public Health.

Arrivals into Doha on flights from the United Kingdom, Denmark, Netherlands and South Africa must have a reservation for a UK, DK, NL or ZA Exclusive Quarantine Hotel. Discover Qatar updated its website after earlier announcing that arrivals from the UK must quarantine on dedicated quarantine hotels.

According to Discover Qatar, you will not be permitted to board the aircraft without a UK, DK, NL, or ZA Exclusive Quarantine Hotel Voucher if your booking was made on or after 23 December 2020.

1. Are there any exceptions to the self-funded 7-day quarantine if you are traveling from the UK, South Africa, Netherlands or Denmark?

Discover Qatar: No. All passengers traveling from the UK, South Africa, Netherlands or Denmark are required to purchase a 7 day UK Quarantine Hotel package.

2. Can I self-quarantine at home?

Discover Qatar: No. All passengers traveling from the UK, South Africa, Netherlands or Denmark are required to purchase a 7-day Quarantine Hotel package.

3. UK, South Africa, Netherlands and Denmark Quarantine Hotels

Bookings made before 13.00 local time 22 December

• All passengers arriving on flights originating from the UK, South Africa, Netherlands and Denmark will be required to stay at one of the following dedicated quarantine hotels:
  • Intercontinental Doha Resort 5*
  • Mercure Grand Doha 4*
• If you have already made your hotel reservation in a different hotel, and are arriving before 6am local time on 23 December, your reservation will be automatically transferred upon arrival.
• If you have already made your hotel reservation in a different hotel, and are arriving after 6am local time on 23 December, you will need to contact us before departure to change your hotel. You will receive a new UK, South Africa, Netherlands or Denmark Quarantine hotel voucher. You will need to present this voucher to be permitted to board your flight.
• For arrivals up to 6am on 23 December any differences in the cost of your original quarantine hotel will be eligible for a refund claim. After 6am local time on 23 December you will be required to pay any additional costs between your original hotel booked and either of the mandatory UK, South Africa, Netherlands or Denmark Quarantine hotels, if there is a price difference. Equally, you will be eligible to claim a refund if your original quarantine booking was more expensive than the options available.

New bookings made on or after 13.00 local time 22 December

• All new bookings will be required to book a UK, South Africa, Netherlands or Denmark Quarantine hotel for your mandatory quarantine stay in Qatar.
• All new bookings from 13.00 local time 22 December will be required to present a UK, South Africa, Netherlands or Denmark Quarantine hotel voucher to be permitted to board a flight departing from the UK, South Africa, Netherlands or Denmark.
• Any bookings made on or after 13.00 local time 22 December, not in a UK, South Africa, Netherlands or Denmark Quarantine hotel for a flight originating in the UK, South Africa, Netherlands or Denmark will be canceled at 100% cancellation fee.

4. If you are not flying from the UK, South Africa, Netherlands or Denmark

• If you are not on a flight from the UK, South Africa, Netherlands or Denmark you should not book a UK, South Africa, Netherlands or Denmark Quarantine hotel for your mandatory quarantine stay in Qatar; you will not be permitted to check-in unless your boarding pass states your journey commenced in the UK, and you will not be entitled to a refund.
• If you are not flying from the UK, South Africa, Netherlands or Denmark, you should book your mandated quarantine hotel here.

Pre-approved QID resident permit holders are able to apply to travel to Qatar. You will need to obtain approval to enter Qatar by applying through the Qatar Portal. Applications for a QID return visa are now open.
