Qatar 2022 Week 2 highlights

The World Cup is turning out to be a memorable occasion for many in Qatar and even around the world. Apart from the matches, the celebrations and the festivities, many things happened during the second week that made us happy.

History made with an all-female refereeing trio for the first time

The Costa Rica vs Germany match of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ on 1 December 2022 saw an all-female refereeing trio for the first time in men's World Cup history. Stephanie Frappart was refereeing the match and was joined by Neuza Back and Karen Diaz as assistants.

Group Stage sees a cumulative attendance of 2.45 million spectators

The group stage saw a cumulative attendance of 2.45 million spectators for the 48 matches in the tournament to date, overcoming the 2018 figure, and 1 million+ visitors to date have attended the FIFA Fan Festival in Doha.
