The Cruise Division of MSC Group in partnership with Qatar Airways has announced that the naming ceremony of its new flagship, MSC World Europa, will take place in Doha, Qatar on 13 November 2022. The ship will officially inaugurate the Qatar's brand new Grand Cruise Terminal.
"The ship will become the biggest and most environmentally high-performing passenger ship to sail out of Doha and across the Middle East and welcome guests from around the world for the winter 2022/2023 season.”
Set to be a glamorous and star-studded event, the ship naming ceremony will be celebrated with a variety of live entertainment and performances, fireworks, and the traditional maritime bottle-breaking ceremony to name a new ship. More event details will be announced soon.

As Qatar places great importance on sustainability, it is fitting that we host this ceremony for such an environmentally focused cruise ship. In addition, the opening of the new Grand Cruise Terminal is a state-of-the-art facility that firmly puts Qatar on the map for cruise ships and positions Doha as one of the most modern ports in the world.”
The ceremonies will be hosted at Qatar's new Grand Cruise Terminal, which is a state-of-the-art 24,000 sqm facility that is expected to receive 28,000 passengers and host two mega-cruise ships a day. Some of the venue's features include an incredible aquarium in the terminal and a gallery that specializes in Islamic art.
The MSC World Europa will be an available accommodation option for fans during the FIFA World Cup Qatar from November to December 2022.
The cruise ship is set to launch her maiden voyage on 20 December 2022 and will be offering 7-night cruises to Gulf cities Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sir Bani Yas Island, and Dammam.
MSC World Europa spans 22 decks, with 215,863 GT’s, 47 metres wide, 40,000 m2 of public space, and 2,626 cabins.
It will feature 13 dining venues, a state-of-the-art architectural 11-deck dry-slide, six stunning pools, 14 whirlpool baths, a Balinese-style wellness center and spa, and a fitness center.
