Are you thinking of taking a short but unforgettable break? Then Park Hyatt Doha is the place you’re looking for. Situated in Msheireb Downtown Doha, the world’s first sustainable downtown regeneration project, Park Hyatt Doha will give you a peaceful stay whether you’re visiting for leisure or business.
We recently stayed over the weekend to give you an in-depth look at what you can experience at this hidden retreat in the cultural heart of the city.
You can enter the hotel from its two entrances, one from the Sikkat Al Wadi Msheireb street, (walking distance from Souq Waqif) or the other entrance within a few steps away from Msheireb Metro central station. Both entries are understated and low-key, a glimpse of the refined luxury within. Once inside, don’t forget to look up because you’ll be amazed by the high ceiling filled with Qatari-inspired patterns.
The service staff (doormen, concierge, and security) at the entrances were courteous and helpful, ushering guests to the lobby and reception for check-in.
Unlike other hotels, Park Hyatt Doha’s reception desk isn’t located on the ground floor but instead tucked away on an upper floor, giving the guest a more private and exclusive experience. The front office staff were friendly and the check-in was a breeze.
Tucked away at the end of the hallway, the door to the Park Suite was unassuming and almost blending in with the wooden walls. The 90 sqm premium suite features one king bed, living room, dining area, and a spa-like bathroom.
The living room is the first thing you’ll see upon entering the room and guests are greeted with fresh flowers, berries in little glass containers, and an amazing chocolate sculpture shaped like the National Museum of Qatar.
A heaping bowl of assorted fresh fruit, a Strawberry Fever drink, nuts, and dates selection, followed by a welcome Arabic coffee, are waiting for the guests.
The bedroom is modern minimalist but luxurious and accented by wooden paneling with Qatari-inspired pattern and abstract blue artwork. It features a Hyatt Grand Bed which was a joy to sleep in - giving you a good night’s sleep and waking you up refreshed. There’s also a 65-inch smart flat-screen TV, a reading nook, and a bedside clock with a built-in wireless phone charger & USB sockets.
The marble bathroom is as big as the bedroom, with a separate shower, toilet, closet, mirrors, double vanity sink, interesting light fixture, and a freestanding soaking tub with a small TV. Le Labo Santal 33 bath toiletries are strategically placed throughout the bathroom and the toilet/washroom near the suite door.
But the piece de resistance of this suite, especially the one assigned to us, was the stunning views. Not just from the floor-to-ceiling windows but also from the bathroom. You’ll be treated to the scenic Doha skyline, the Corniche, and the surrounding Msheireb Downtown from day to night. The windows, blackout blinds, lights, and air conditioning, can be controlled by the touch screen panels you can find throughout the suite.
Finally the refined touches such as scent, books, chocolates and the sustainable orientation present all over the room elements are what will surely make you reminisce about the hotel.
For those who like to carry many gadgets during their stay, fret not because there are at least 14 power outlets you can choose to charge from inside the suite.
According to Park Hyatt Doha, the hotel offers 187 elegant guest rooms including 28 Park Suites, 3 Park Executive Suites, 1 Diplomat Suite, and 1 Presidential Suite. All rooms enjoy floor-to-ceiling windows, luxury window seats, and a designer marble bathroom with a deep soaking tub, rain shower, and double vanity sink. In addition, Presidential and Diplomat Suite guests can retreat to a private terrace with magnificent views over the city or Corniche.

We were treated to their bestsellers, the presentations of which were all well thought out and intricately styled. The dishes were all a show-stopper, impressing the diners as soon as it’s served on the table until the very last bite. The Salmon Sashimi was served with caviar and gold flakes while the Akira Maki was a glorious combination of shrimp tempura and avocado.
The Wagyu M5 Beef Tenderloin was delightfully juicy and tender served with grilled eggplant topped with bonito flakes. You’ll relish every bite of the Blue Ocean Tempura for it was perfectly crispy with a light batter. If you have a hard time choosing among the delectable desserts, just go for the Garden of Zen which is perfect for dessert lovers. You get a taste of everything and more.
An expansive dining area and an open kitchen are what will greet you upon entering Opus. Opus serves Qatari, French, and Mediterranean cuisines in a sharing-style concept. Aside from its outdoor dining terrace, Opus also offers private dining rooms, ideal for special occasions or corporate entertaining.
Guests are given complimentary freshly baked Arabic bread served with beetroot cheese and olives. Don’t miss the Crab Flower Salad, a light dish to start your meal, and the Shish de Opus which includes Wagyu Beef, Corn-fed chicken, Lamb loin, and an assortment of vegetables.
For dessert, the Chocolate Truffle Tart served with Vanilla sorbet was a winner. We were also treated to one of the seasonal desserts available, Mango Star, which is a rich and rewarding sundae made of layers of chia seeds, mango compote, vanilla chantilly cream, mango ice cream and topped with chocolate & coconut flakes.
