In the same announcement, Careem Qatar noted that customers with outstanding Careem credits or packages would be issued a refund by 15 March 2023. Careem Qatar can be reached at careem.me/report-a-problem for those with concerns or need support.

Careem is a ride-hailing, multi-service app which operates in over 80 cities across 10 countries. Careem was established in July 2012 and became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Uber Technologies, Inc. in January 2020.

Reportedly, Uber told CNBC it would be operating as usual in Qatar following the announcement. The two companies operate independently. Doha was the first market Careem expanded into in 2013, after its start in the United Arab Emirates.
