Ramadan is the perfect time to experience another side of Qatar with a host of unique events, occasions and gatherings, designed to celebrate the spirit of the month. To mark this year's Ramadan, a unique mix of different kinds of events and activities like, Ramadan market, crafts workshop, storytelling for children, sports festival, Garangao and much more taking places across the country. Ramadan Market - is based on a unique concept mainly focusing on shopping with an international flavor. Over 200 retail shops representing different cultures, ethnicity, handicrafts and branded products from more than 25 countries are taking part in the event. Some of the countries represented include India, Pakistan, China, Turkey, Kuwait, Oman, Iran, Yemen, Kuwait, Qatar, Bangladesh, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Thailand, Malaysia, Italy, Philippine, USA and other African and European countries products and brands.

Every weekend throughout Ramadan

Mirqab Mall

Visit Mirqab Mall every weekend for special in-mall events throughout the Holy Month, including Garangao, creation stations, craft workshops and traditional storytelling. Every evening the traditional majlis is offering free coffee and dates at iftar, and henna artist is waiting for you on the mezzanine floor. All events are from 7.30 pm – 10.30 pm and are FREE of charge

Art Workshops
Community members can join a Calligraphy course in Nasta’liq starting from 13 May, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. For members looking for evening classes after Iftar, a three-day Clay Art workshop for adults will be held from 12-14 May, from 8:30 pm to 10:30 pm. On 13 – 14 May, another workshop will also be delivered by Qatari photographer Abdulla Al Mannai. This workshop will focus on the importance of light in portrait and landscape photography. Given seats are limited, interested community members are encouraged to register in advance through www.qm.org.qa/education

“The Holy Quran in Many Languages exhibition at MIA’s Library (July 31, 2019)
MIA’s Library is pleased to host a new exhibition dedicated to the Holy Quran, titled “The Holy Quran in Many Languages”. The exhibition features various displays of historic and contemporary copies of Surat al-Baqarah, Verse 183-187 from the Quran in different languages. The exhibition concludes on 31 July 2019.

Family activities (May 13 & 15)
In addition, MIA is also organising evenings of engaging drop-in family activities, including a Ramadan Treasure Trail, Card and Bookmark making, Cut Out Ka’ba, Prayer mat paper weaving and lantern making. All activities are available from 8:30 pm – 10:30 pm on 13 and 15 May.

Guided tours - (Every Monday and Thursday)
Evening Ramadan-themed tours will be available for MIA’s visitors every Monday and Thursday at 9:30pm. General tours of the Permanent galleries will be offered on Saturdays and Tuesdays at the same time.

Just like meditation, coloring allows us to switch off our brains from other thoughts and focus only on the moment, helping to reduce anxiety, create focus and increase our mindfulness. Join the Qatar National Library for a special coloring session focusing on Islamic patterns. Patterns and markers will be provided. This is an open session for you to relax and color your cares away.

For the 8th year in a row, “Ramadan Sports Festival” is running at Aspire Zone’s various venues from Wednesday, 8 May, until Sunday, 19 May, to pull a large number of participants and partners. The 12 days festival features 12 activities in total that range from sports competitions to physical challenges. These trigger the interest of active leisure seekers, whether they are men, women or juniors.

The Holy Kaaba Exhibition at Qatar National Library

The Holy Kaaba is the most sacred site of Islam, held by Muslims to be the House of God. Pilgrimage to the Kaaba is one of the fundamental rites of Islam, and its location determines the direction Muslims turn to for their prayers. This exhibition of 50 carefully selected items offers insights into the history of the Kaaba, the stages of its construction, its architectural features and adornment, and its religious and spiritual significance. These photos, works of art, books and manuscripts testify to the deep effect the Kaaba has had on visitors for centuries.
