This is a great opportunity for artists in Qatar. Artist in Residence is an annual nine-month residency programme, from September to June, where artists are given studio space in one of the five floors of the Fire Station building. The residency allows artists to develop their art practice through the programme, which includes mentorship, working with curators, open studios, and access to the building’s facilities (fabrication lab, woodshop, and exhibition spaces).
They are also given the opportunity to showcase their artworks by the end of their residency in an exhibition in the Garage Gallery at the Fire Station. For more information and to apply, click here.
Have you heard of the acclaimed American artist and designer Virgil Abloh? Qatar Museums is presenting a retrospective of the artist at Doha Fire Station. This is the first museum exhibition of his work to be presented in the Middle East, Virgil Abloh: Figures of Speech will be on view until 31 March 2022. With more than 55 works, the exhibition will offer an in-depth look at Abloh's work over the years. Entry is free for all visitors!
