Game on Qatar! Ooredoo Plans Fun-Filled National Sport Day Activities

National Sports Day
Ooredoo has announced its jam-packed schedule for National Sport Day today, aimed to encourage the people of Qatar to take part in the day-long celebration of sport on Tuesday, 11 February 2014. One of the highlights of the day with be a special friendly football match between the management teams of Ooredoo and Qatar Charity, as well as appearances by a host of famous football stars, who will play in a number of matches during the day. Ooredoo’s National Sport Day ‘Game on Qatar’ campaign will see the company host a series of activities at the Museum of Islamic Art Park (MIA), including tug of war, balloon relay race, ping-pong competitions, volleyball, Snakes & Ladders, Frisbee Bowling, and cycling. There will also be a range of entertainment for children, including special “Ben 10” activities and an appearance by Ooredoo’s mischievous mascots, the Alrabaa. The Alrabaa will be appearing across MIA during the day, entertaining families and delighting children. Fatima Sultan Al Kuwari, Director of Community & Public Relations, Ooredoo said: ‘‘We’re proud to continue our annual tradition of hosting family-friendly Sport Day activities. We aim to provide a free and fun-filled day for our customers and more importantly the entire community. With our Year of Sport campaign underway and as part of our support for the 2030 Qatar National Vision, we are providing our biggest-ever National Sport Day event and can’t wait to see everyone there” The daylong event will kick off at 8am and there will be a free Ooredoo Park & Ride service between the Qatar Sports Club and MIA to enable people to access convenient and easy parking facilities. Along with the host of team-centred sports and competitions, there will also be yoga sessions, high activity HITT classes with fully-trained instructors, and a number of professional sportsmen and women showing off their skills. As well as offering fun and entertainment, the day will also deliver a range of opportunities for people to improve their overall health and fitness. Ooredoo will be giving away gift certificates for GoSports throughout the day, for various competition winners and event participants. Ooredoo has also added significant online resources, to engage more people with sport and fitness. As well as a special YouTube series showcasing sport, customers can also play a special Sports Day game of the Ooredoo Facebook page, where they can score points by shooting balls at a moving target. Players on the top 10 leader-board on 11 February 2014 will win a prize. Ooredoo’s support for Qatar’s National Sport Day is part of their ongoing commitment to raise awareness of the importance of fitness and health to the people of Qatar in 2014. The company has already announced a host of sporting sponsorships this year, including a year-long sponsorship deal for Qatari Olympic medallist, Nasser Al Attiyah, and two top Qatari motorcycle riders, Mashel Al Naimi and Fahid Al Sowaidi. The community-based telecommunications company hopes that by sponsoring and arranging a wide variety of sports in 2014, they will inspire the next generation of Qatari talent and encourage more people to get involved in a healthy lifestyle. - ILQ News -
