The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) announced on 10 September 2023 that Qatar has officially received the ball for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027.

The handover of the ball took place at the closing ceremony of the 2023 FIBA ​​World Cup, which took place in Manila, Philipines and was handed over to Mohamed Al Maghaiseeb, President of the Qatar Basketball Federation and Sheikha Asma Al Thani, Director of Marketing and Communication Department of the Qatar Olympic Committee by Haman Niang, President of the International Basketball Federation.

The handover signifies the commencement of the countdown towards the tournament that will be taking place in Qatar in 2027.
