After a grueling round of strength tests and a thorough screening process, Aspire Zone has selected 18 qualifiers to compete in the second edition of Qatar’s Strongest Man which will take place this Thursday, December 18^th and Friday, December 19^th from 3:00pm to 9:00pm at Aspire Park.

Aspire Zone selected the 18 participants this past Sunday, and they have already attended a technical meeting to brief them about the event and the expectations, ahead of a trial that will take place the day before the actual event.

Aspire Zone’s Qatar’s Strongest Man is divided into two categories: with an open race for Qatar’s residents to be held on December 18^th and an exclusive Qatari national’s category to be held on December 19^th. Nine men including: Daniel Dache Athiambo, Kenya; Christopher Oktech, Kenya; Nicolas Nassif, Lebanon; Joseph Iroo Ekadeli( Last year`s winner), Kenya; Meshack Otieno Ogola, Kenya; Rafed Assef Ahmed, Syria; Basheer Mohamed, Saudi Arabia; Abdelmalek Aouatia, Algeria; and Abdelrahman Abdelrahman from Egypt, have been selected to participate in the open race category.

Meanwhile, Fahad Mohammed Alhaddad, Abdulla Majid Allaq, Abdulla Essa Albinali, Ali Essa Albinali Mohammed Jarlla Almarri, Talal Belal Alkuwari, Rashid Abdulla Alfehaida, Hamad Salem Alnaimi and Salah Abdulrahman Zaenalabdeen have been selected in the exclusive Qatari national’s category, in what is tipped to be the ultimate ‘Clash of the Titans’.

Mr. Abdulla Al Khater, Aspire Zone Events Manager, said: “We are thrilled to be hosting the second edition of Qatar’s Strongest Man, and we had a fantastic response with a lot of applications. Aspire Zone is committed to promoting activities and organizing events that the whole community can enjoy, and plans are already underway to have a GCC category added to next year’s event.”

The second edition of Aspire Zone’s Qatar’s Strongest Man focuses on testing the physical strength of each one of the participants. The exciting two day event to be held over the Qatar National Day long weekend and sponsored by Sports Corner, consists of a series of unique strength tests including: weight lifting, lifting a fixed car, pulling a truck, moving a giant tire and moving an atlas stone and sand bags.

Mr. Joseph Iroo Ekadeli from Kenya and the winner of the inaugural Qatar’s Strongest Man, said: “It’s fantastic to be participating in the second edition of Qatar’s Strongest Man, and I will also have the opportunity to defend my title. The competition is very challenging and hopefully I can once again walk away with the title.”

Mr. Abdulla Albinali and Mr. Ali Albinali, brothers who are participating in the Qatari national’s category, added: “Qatar’s Strongest Man focuses on challenging you both physically and mentally, as well as being a test of endurance. We both had the opportunity to participate in the first edition and we are happy to have passed the selection stage this time around. We have been training intensively for this and hopefully it pays off and one of us is crowned Qatar’s Strongest Man.”

Aspire Zone has confirmed that the top three participants who get the highest points in all five of the series will win the challenge. A special honouring ceremony will take place on 18^th and 19^th at 6 pm where a trophy and prize money will be awarded to the first, second and third place winner and the first five qualifiers will be rewarded for their efforts.

Thousands of spectators are expected to flock to Aspire Park for the second edition of Qatar’s Strongest Man for the chance to watch and cheer the competitors on through dedicated area for the fans. The attendees will be able to enjoy the national day weekend through various in addition to witnessing the attempt of Abdel latif Sadek (Guinness Records achiever) to break his own record in push-ups.
