The upcoming Doha Food Festival will see the top chefs in Qatar competing against one another in the innovative ‘Black Box competition’. As part of the competition, participating chefs will be given a black box full of mystery ingredients with which to cook a dish to wow the judges. Four of the competition will be held across the festival involving all of the participating hotels and restaurants. A winner will be announced each day. So far around 70 hotels, cafes and restaurants have signed up to take part in the event, including Al Tawash and Cocina and eateries which offer food from nations such as Italy, India and China. As well as the Black Box event there will be fun activities for children, tasting sessions and cooking demonstrations. Japanese dishes will be on offer for the first time to celebrate the nation’s 40 years of bilateral relations with Qatar. Speaking to the Qatar News Agency, Qatar Tourism Authority chairman Ahmed Al Nuaimi said that the event is important for the community and gives people a chance to sample other cultures’ cuisines. 7Days
