THE happening place in the Qatari capital, the W Doha offers a venue where residents can mix and mingle, enjoy inspired dining and catch up on the latest trends while visitors are ensured of an innovative take on Arabian hospitality, wrapped up in the latest design and facilities
DOHA, March 2012 – Three years on from its debut in March 2009 as the Gulf’s first lifestyle hotel, the W Doha has succeeded in transforming the hospitality landscape with a dynamic approach to design, cuisine, the spa culture and its unique calendar of fashion and music happenings.
Combining elements of Arabesque with ornate detail and opulent space, the hotel is a contemporary urban retreat that has won acclaim for its vibrant Bliss® Spa, fusion dining and cultural and commercial partnerships with organisations as diverse as Qatar Airways, the Doha Tribeca Film Festival, London’s Old Vic Theatre and the Virginia Commonwealth University to name a few.
According to area general manager, Safak Guvenc, the W Doha has echoed the development of Qatar, gaining a reputation as a cultural centre and ‘must-see’ destination that continually reinvents itself: “As Doha takes centre stage to become an international venue for sports, high profile conferences and exhibitions, for academic meetings and cultural events, we are proud to fulfil a role as a trend-setter ensuring the city can offer an iconic venue that is local in design inspiration but truly cosmopolitan in spirit,” he said.
The 441-room hotel and residence has introduced a fun element to hospitality through the reinvention of the lobby as the Living Room, transforming health and leisure with the WET Deck, launching the first and only Bliss® Spa in the region with its energising wraps, rubs and scrubs, introducing celebrity star cooking to Doha with Michelin chef, Jean-Georges Vongerichten who has brought contemporary food trends to the table, and finally being the destination of choice to many of the worlds icons such as Kevin Spacy and Kate Moss.
Already, the hotel has won a series of awards including Qatar’s Leading Meeting and Conference Hotel and Leading Hotel & Residences in the Middle East, at the 2011 World Travel Awards, and Best Luxury Hotel Spa at the World Luxury Spa Awards.
For the future, the hotel will be expanding its role as a entertaiment and event ambassador for Qatar, said Guvenc: “We aspire to serve the needs of modern travellers for comfort, technology and entertainment, while also becoming a location for both local and international visitors to discover the soul of the city, bringing its unique heritage in to the 21st century.”
