This public letter was sent to us by Martine Weekes. ------------------------------------ We understand from media reports that Villagio is to reopen. Whilst we understand that this day had to come, we are angry that not one representative from Villagio or the Government has had the respect to contact us in advance to explain this decision. We are angered that Villagio has not even had the courtesy to invite us to grieve for our children in private at the location they died. The owners and the management should be ashamed. Villagio is reopening before the owners of the mall and Gympanze have even been before the Qatari Courts as they are required to do so. As a matter of fact, the first court hearing was postponed because the defendants did not have the humanity to show up for the proceeding. Whilst we accept the right of Villagio to reopen we also assert our rights as the families of the victims of this crime. Those individuals and entities responsible must face justice. It is unacceptable that as of today the families have had zero communication from the Government. We have legitimate questions to be answered. As a consumer, you have a choice where to shop. If you choose to return to Villagio we have one request. Each time you return, remember. Remember the memories of those who died - including our 13 most precious children. Remember those who died trying to save our children. And remember the negligence of Villaggio and others in allowing this to happen. And remember that justice has not been done. As everyday, today is a day of grief and reflection. We will not forget. We ask you to pause and remember. We will fight until justice is reached. You have a choice.
