Following the Cabinet meeting on 25 May 2022, an announcement regarding the approval of a draft resolution to control the use of plastic bags has been released.

The changes will include the following:

• Institutions, companies, and shopping centers are prohibited from using single-use plastic bags in packaging, packing, presenting, circulating, carrying, or transporting products and merchandise of all kinds.
• Single-use plastic bags are to be replaced with multi-use plastic bags, biodegradable plastic bags, paper or “woven” bags, and other biodegradable materials.
