The Awesome Foundation – a worldwide network that serves as a financial platform for innovative ventures and projects – has recently appointed Mohamed Farid, Chairman and Founder of The Youth Company International, as one of the 10 Awesome Trustees of the foundation’s chapter in Doha.
The Awesome Foundation is an international body established in Boston, 2009 which provides monthly grants of up to $1,000 in order to leverage and develop the ideas of driven individuals into sustainable and long-lasting projects in areas such as the arts, technology, and other fields within the community.
As a global network, The Awesome Foundation recognizes each country that is involved with its initiatives as independent “chapters,” and expands its scope by acquiring “micro-trustees” in different countries. The role of these self-sustaining trustees is to oversee the Awesome Foundation chapter within their respective area, and support potential ventures within it. Since 2009, The Awesome Foundation has sprouted numerous chapters around the world to conserve, sustain, and support the worldwide ecosystem.
The monthly grants distributed are accumulated by The Awesome Foundation Trustees and are provided with no strings attached or claims on ownership over the projects it supports, which are entitled to up to $5,000 of micro-funding. Doha's 10 Awesome Trustees aim to extend funding to one winner per month to effectively launch their community enhancing projects. “A micro-genius grant for flashes of micro-brilliance.”
“It is truly a great honor and privilege to be part of The Awesome Foundation. The concept of micro-funding community projects around the world is one that The Youth Company actively supports and believes in as an international social enterprise for youth empowerment, and as one of Doha’s 10 Awesome Trustees, the opportunities for young people in the nation are certainly expected to rise,” says Mohamed Farid, Chairman and Founder of The Youth Company International.
The monthly grants that The Awesome Foundation provides is also coincidently interconnected with the YOU-Start program that is offered at The Youth Company. As one of the key programs offered by the youth-led organization, YOU-Start encourages young entrepreneurs and project managers to develop ideas into potential business ventures. A similar objective is also raised in Run The World Legacy, one of the three main installments of December’s Run The World Festival. In this event, the youth are also presented with a platform to initiate and develop their own sustainable projects for enriching the community and the environment.
