AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa will present a plan of action on how to implement the ‘consultation process’ for the 2022 FIFA World Cup dates in December, it emerged yesterday. The AFC president will make a detailed announcement at a FIFA Executive Committee meeting set to be held in Brazil in the first week of December this year, the Asian body said here yesterday. Informing the AFC Member Associations on the deliberations during the FIFA Executive Committee meeting held in Zurich on October 3 and 4, Sheikh Salman said that he has been asked to lead the working group of this consultation process. “It is my responsibility to include all relevant stakeholders of the international pyramid of football, including FIFA’s TV and commercial partners, into an open and transparent process of dialogue and exchange,” Sheikh Salman said. “Until the upcoming FIFA Executive Committee in December, I will present a proposed plan of action on how to implement such a complex and broad consultation process. “In addition, we have concluded that there is more than enough time to engage with all concerned stakeholders and consequently there is no reason to rush any decision to this effect,” he said. The football family has been deliberating whether to move Qatar 2022 World Cup from its traditional summer date to winter. In December 2010, Qatar beat four other countries to win the bid race for the 2022 World Cup at a historic FIFA vote. http://thepeninsulaqatar.com/qatar/257731-talks-on-date-change-in-dec.html
