Sharq Village & Spa, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel, held a blood donation day on Monday in partnership with the Hamad Medical Corporation.

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company regularly encourages its ladies and gentlemen worldwide to participate in community initiatives including philanthropy, volunteerism, education and environmental preservation through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, community footprints. To conduct the blood drive, the hotel collaborated with the Hamad Medical Corporation, a premier non-profit health care provider in Doha that manages highly specialised hospitals and health care centres, including the Hamad General Hospital, Rumailah Hospital, Women’s Hospital, Psychiatric Hospital and the Primary Health Care Centres.

“Here at Sharq Village & Spa, we are committed to actively supporting the long-term vision of The Ritz-Carlton and our community as a whole,” said Wael Maatouk, General Manager, Sharq Village & Spa.

Focusing on three key areas: Hunger and Poverty Relief; Education and Development; and Environmental Conservation, the Community Footprints programme has resulted in projects around the world including ‘The Ritz Environmental Action Conservation’ (REACT), which has seen the hotel company reduce its energy usage by 3.4 percent from 2006 to 2007 with plans to reduce energy usage by a further 9 percent over the next three years.
