Shangri La Hotel

Qatar is a rapidly growing hub of multi-cultural cuisine with its focus on offering the people who live in Qatar – local and expats – dining experiences that are world class and second to none. Shangri-La Hotel Doha’s Shanghai Club is playing a major role in revitalising the country’s dining scene and contributing to Doha’s booming restaurant business.

Celebrating its 2nd anniversary this October, this crowning glory of Shangri-La Hotel Doha, is well-known in Doha as the highest Chinese restaurant in town. It has an elevation of 162.3 metres above the ground and is located on the 43rd and 44th level, giving guests a spectacular view of the city’s beautiful landscape while they enjoy a gastronomical feast of Chinese cuisine at its best.

Elements of South East Asia make up the interior of this chic and sophisticated, yet cosy and comfy, restaurant; from the huge bas-relief dragon on the wall and the chandelier that changes colour, to a representation of the Great Wall of China.

If guests are impressed by the interior, they will be wowed by the unique South East Asian cuisine that has earned it a couple of swanky awards that include:

FACT Dining Award Doha 2018 - The Best Chinese

FACT Dining Award Doha 2018 – Favourite Dim Sum Brunch

The restaurant has recently welcomed a new Executive Chinese Chef ‘Chen Hann Furn’, who brings his culinary expertise of 25 years in modern authentic Cantonese and Sichuan cuisine to Doha’s favourite Chinese restaurant. To maintain the authenticity of the Chinese dining experience, the kitchen is 100% Chinese and boasts five master chefs, each specialising in one of the country’s regional cuisines. Together, they offer the bold tastes of Sichuan and a carefully curated selection of classic and contemporary dishes that highlight the Shanghainese and Cantonese traditions and are not only fresh and flavourful, but innovative and visually appealing as well.

Though the restaurant's signature favourites are still very much on their extensive menu, like the much-loved and most ordered Duck handbags, delicious Peking Duck, and the aromatic Fortune Chicken, Chef Chen has recently introduced a new menu of enticing Asian food and creative dim sums that are bound to bring guests of the restaurant back again and again, and will also be launching a Dim Sum Business Lunch in the very near future.

Guests can also enjoy a unique noodle-pulling performance, while in the evenings, bartenders create Asian-inspired beverages with unique twists of flavour from the Jing tea selection and a resident DJ plays contemporary tunes to complete the setting.

For guests who are looking for some privacy or want to celebrate special occasions in style with a big group of people, Shanghai Club has three private rooms that are just perfect: the semi-private lounge area, semi-private dining room and the private dining room.

With its uncompromising standard of Chinese cuisine, creative fusion bar food and trendy DJs, Shanghai Club is setting new standards in Doha for lovers of this fine gourmet cuisine and those that enjoy the finer things in life. It’s the perfect venue for an authentic dim sum brunch, after-work drinks, a swanky dinner or classy private parties and entertainment.
