After more than four years since she last rocked Qatar, Filipina total performer, blockbuster superstar, global endorser, and 'Popstar Royalty' Sarah Geronimo is back to give her Doha fans a night that they won't soon forget—through her This 15 Me World Tour: Qatar Edition which is set to take place at the 4,000-seater Aspire Ladies Sports Hall on January 25, 2018 (Friday).
Sarah, or Sarah G, as referred by most of her fans—which call themselves 'Popsters'—was named 'The Philippine's Most Beautiful Star' in late 2014 and was also awarded various musical accolades including the most-coveted 'Female Recording Artist of the Year for 2014' by Star Awards, 'Female Concert Performer of the Year', 'Most Influential Female Music Artist', 'Entertainer of the Year', as well as an unexpected nomination for the MTV Europe Awards.
With all these, it's indeed undebatable that Sarah G. has come a long way since winning the television singing competition Star for a Night, back in 2003, at age 14. Her contributions to music, television and film made her one of the most celebrated Filipino entertainers of the 2000s and 2010s.
And to mark her 15 years in the entertainment industry, she has embarked on a global tour titled 'This 15 Me'. The series of tours has so far hosted events throughout the Philippines, Japan, the US, Dubai, and this 2019, its first stop will be in no other than Doha!
If you got your hands on a physical ticket already, then it might be worth scrolling all the way down to answer some of your most Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) regarding Sarah G's second major Doha gig! Otherwise, make sure to still do as we've included something exciting for non-ticket holders to check out at the bottom part of this article!
Besides her monster hits being part of the upcoming line-up including Tala, Dulo, Kilometro, and Duyan, Sarah G. is also most likely to perform her most popular covers, too, such as To Love You More, That’s the Way Love Goes and I Have Nothing.
Plus, she will be joined by two of the most well-known all-around performers in The Philippines Mark Bautista and Sam Concepcion who have both played massive roles in Sarah G's humble beginnings.
Adding up to the hype are front act performers Tripod (an acoustic band), Battle of the Bands winner SoUnDz of Era, and FV Karaoke Contest champion CJ Laher.
It was never a secret to Sarah G's Qatar fans that her comeback concert was supposed to happen late last year (September 22)—right after her Dubai act. But due to some conflicts with the venue and organizers, they had to move to a later date, making it a blessing in disguise as Qatar becomes This 15 Me's first international stop for 2019.
Over four years ago, during her Perfect 10 Concert on November 28, 2014 to be exact.
Yes! They're called ' Popsters Doha Chapter' and its president, Annjelique Lopez, was kind enough to tell ILoveQatar.Net how Sarah G's biggest fans in Qatar are preparing for her big comeback: “We were actually very much prepared since the concert was announced last year. At the moment, we’re trying to prepare light sticks to show our support to our idol. As a die-hard fanatic, I want to wear a jacket with Sarah G's signature on it along with our pictures together on the concert itself.”
Let's get to know Sarah G. a little bit more as we get to ask her more fun and personal questions! Please take note that the following Q&A is not an exclusive one, we just lifted some of Sarah G's most interesting answers from her past interviews and gathered them all here.
The multimedia star has always been a big supporter of the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) community around the world that's why she's always looking forward to go back to the Middle East as more than 260,000 OFWs are based in Qatar alone.
She shared: "I’m always excited to return to perform for our hardworking countrymen who are living there.”
She turned 30 last July 25 and when asked by the media regarding her career, she said: “Time flies. In the past, I felt like turning 30 was such a big deal—that I was getting old—but time has flown by and I’m just thankful. Whatever I have achieved now—I didn’t know any of this was even possible.”
Sarah G. launched her international concert tour on April 29 in Las Vegas, where she made headlines after breaking down in tears and struggling to sing through her track Forever’s Not Enough. Tearful, she told the audience that the pressures of the industry have taken a toll on her. “I’m not prepared for the things that go along with the success. It’s too much. I’ve realised I’m not ready for it,” she said, her voice shaking. “I ask myself why I feel empty. I’m tired. I’m so sorry.”
"When God gives you the desires of your heart, you'll have a brand-new definition of success. It's not anymore about fame or fortune," she added tearfully.
Sarah loves shoes and perfumes. “I’m really a shoe person,” she told a recent tabloid interview. “I can’t count the number of shoes I have.”
Despite her stardom, the Popstar Royalty hopes to someday finish her Associate in Arts programme at the University of the Philippines Open University, where she enrolled almost a decade ago.
After her 2018 blockbuster hit Miss Granny, a Filipino adaptation of the 2014 South Korean blockbuster movie of the same name, Sarah G. is set to star in another movie under Viva Films under the working title 'Unforgettable.'
