Rains leave Doha areas waterlogged

Most parts of the country experienced good rains yesterday. According to weather department sources, Doha experienced the best rains this season with the international airport recording 14.4mm of rain between 3am and 3pm, yesterday. “Rain is likely to get over by late in the evening (today) but cool climatic conditions will set in the next couple of days,” said a Met official. Fishermen said visibility had fallen considerably in most areas of the sea following heavy rains and fishing was virtually impossible in the afternoon. “Most boats ventured out for duties on Saturday are now berthed in Halul Island,” said a fisherman. Fishing was also extremely difficult in and around Travaa and Alaa islands because of heavy rains, accompanied by winds, he said. Meanwhile, reports from Shamaal and Ruweis said fishing boats had stopped venturing out to the sea yesterday owing to strong winds and rains in the region. Mesaieed also experienced good rains throughout the day yesterday, leaving many areas in the city waterlogged. In Doha, many areas, including the Central Bus Station, were waterlogged.
