The Qatari owner of Spanish football club Malaga has called on UEFA to investigate his team's exit from the Champions League on Tuesday night. Sheikh Abdullah Al-Thani claimed on Twitter that his side's defeat at Borussia Dortmund was "an injustice and racism". Dortmund scored twice in stoppage-time to complete a 3-2 win and move into the last four. Felipe Santana's winner appeared offside and Al Thani said he believes his side should have won. He said on Twitter: "I'm sorry to go out this way, injustice and racism." He added: "This is not football, but racism and clear of all. I hope to open a thorough investigation [by] Uefa regarding the Spanish club [going] out in this way." Al-Thani bought the Andalusian club for $44m in June 2010 and heavy investment in players helped them finish fourth last season and secure a place in the Champions League playoff round. Last month, Malaga said it is optimistic about its appeal against a UEFA ban from European competition for at least one season because of unpaid bills. The club was one of the first nine clubs to fall foul of UEFA's new Financial Fair Play rules in December. The possible suspension does not affect the Spanish club's current Champions League campaign but the ban would kick in any time in the next four seasons should they again qualify for Europe. Club director general Vicente Casado said in a statement posted on the official club website: "We’re very optimistic, we’ve fulfilled our obligations and we’ll prove it.” He also dismissed rumours that the club was to be sold. "It is completely untrue, and there is absolutely no reason to suggest otherwise,” he said, adding that owner Al Thani "is totally committed to Malaga. "The owner will continue to invest in the club. I’m very optimistic about the future of this entity. One of the owner’s representatives is here in his office every day, highlighting his continued interest in the club.” Source: Arabian Business
