Qatari handball team secures place at Youth Olympic Games

The Qatari handball team won the gold medal yesterday after beating Korea 28-21 in the in the final match of Second Asian Youth Games in Nanjing, China. The Qatari team secured a place at the Youth Olympic Games to be held in the same city next year and these games have acted as a dress rehearsal for it. Qatar beat Saudi Arabia 30-25, while South Korea defeated Bahrain 19-11 in the semi- finals. Amor Dhiab top scored the match with seven goals for Qatar. Ahmad Al Sheabi, President of the Qatar Handball Association dedicated the medal to the Emir of Qatar, HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and to Qatari people. The Qatari squad includes Mohammad Hani Abdulraouf, Abdulaziz Bouhendi, Ibrahim Shebl, Nour Ashraf Ahmad, Erhad Alhodzech, Bilal Leninka, Farouq Sholo, Mostafa Amir Heiba, Amin Bin Nouradin, Omer bin Jaloul, Salim Zuhair, Ahmad Magdi, Omer Khalid Abdulfatah, Abdulrahman Mohammad Abulshaar, Adai Hassan Esawi, Khalid Humaid Ahmad, Adison Bajaric and Jovo Damgnovic. China occupied the first place in the games. South Korea and Japan finished second and third place respectively. Qatar with one gold medal and two silver medals is in 16th place.
