Qatar University launches the electronic system for student employment

The Career Services Center at Qatar University held an event entitled “First Student Employment Forum”, in which it announced the new electronic system for the Student Employment Program and honored the first group of participants in the “Career Excellence Workshop”. The forum was attended by Dr. Omar Al-Ansari, Qatar University’s Vice President for Student Affairs, and Ms.Haya Al-Attiyah, Director of the Career Services Center at Qatar University, as well as students involved in the Student Employment program and participants in the “Career Excellence Workshop”. Dr.Omar Al-Ansari expressed his happiness to be amongst the students and stressed the importance of the Student Employment Program and its role in expanding students’ expertise and skills. The forum included a variety of events, where Ms.Haya Al-Attiyah spoke about the Career Services Center and its important role in improving student employment skills, while Maha Al-Marri, Employment Counselor at the Career Services Center, spoke of the employment excellence workshops, their objectives, as well as their importance to students. Salih Riyad also gave a presentation on the new electronic system for the Student Employment Program. As for the Student Employment Program at Qatar University, Ms.Haya Al-Attiyah said: “It is one of the programs provided by the Career Services Center. It contributes to the development of the student’s personal and practical skills, as students gain self-confidence. It also qualifies students to enter the labor market in the future.” She added: “Sometimes the program provides the University with an opportunity to employ the students in the future in its various departments and faculties”. During the Forum two documentary films were screened, the first tackled the experience of students participating in the students’ recruitment program, while the second film tackled the recruitment excellence workshops organized during the last semester; 21 workshops in total, with a number of participants during the Autumn 2012 Semester reaching to around 364 students. The forum provided an opportunity for all students interested in enlisting in the Student Recruitment Program to ask questions and inquire about the conditions and the mechanism for registration directly from program officials. At the conclusion of the event, Dr.Omar Al-Ansari honored the students who have participated in the Career Excellence Program. The Student Employment Program aims to enhance the educational experience for students while providing the necessary services for the community of Qatar University, where students working on campus acquire skills that can enhance their ability to work, as well as enrich their choice of a future career. source - QatarChronicle
