Qatar will ban the import of counterfeit electrical goods. It would also come out with a quality guideline for elevators, which would be mandatory from 2010. Talking at the “Green Tent” hosted by the Friends of the Environment, Director of Qatar Standards and Specifications (QSS) Dr Mohammed Saif Al Kuwari, said forged and electrical goods of inferior quality have flooded the country. Such goods are behind many recent accidents in Qatar. The QSS is trying to phase out the existing stock in the country, ahead of imposing a complete ban on their import. He said the QSS inspection squad has already launched a crackdown on such forged goods.
