Khalid Al Mullah represented the General Youth Authority at the Contacting the World 2008, a revolutionary international theater project for young and emerging artists, where representatives from many countries participated. More than 150 engaged presenters of youth activities and young artists met in Liverpool, England, for eight days to celebrate youth work and achievements.
The counties which participated in Contacting the World are England, Germany, Turkey, Poland, Zambia, Brazil, India, Nepal, Nigeria, Malaysia, Bangladesh, New Zeland, South Africa, United States of America and Palestine met to create new opportunities and exchange experiences.
Contacting the World redefines the way theatre is created on the global stage. It is a global outreach with a unique opportunity to discover and connect with youth activities around the world.
They will display explosive performances, workshops and street theater, thereby forming one of the main commissions for Liverpool's year as 2008 Capital of Culture. With four workshops a day, daily matinee performances, and double-bill premiers every evening this year's festival has delivered an unparalleled showcase of true international talent. On the first day alone you can attend a workshop from Zambia and Poland, an afternoon performance from Mumbai will follow before the evening shows from Manchester and Brazil.
Twelve of the world's freshest new theater companies have been selected and twinned to form six unique pairings. There was a week long festival of international premiers which begen on 27 July.
