Qatar's e-Learning Portal Revamped & Now Available Online

Qatar's government employees now have a chance to get even smarter. ictQATAR, announced today the launch of its revamped Qatar National e-Learning Portal. The portal offers more than 2,500 free online courses to government employees in a variety of topics, including: business, IT, computer skills, human resources, marketing, personal development and management. "Qatar is rapidly evolving into a knowledge society and it's essential that government employees continue to grow their skills to keep pace and advance," said Reem Al-Mansouri, ictQATAR's e-Inclusion Manager. "The Qatar National e-Learning Portal offers certified courses that will help our citizens advance their careers. The new portal allows for a more personalized approach to learning and can help employees better set goals and track progress." The new e-Learning Portal has an individually designed page for each government ministry and entity, allowing for customized learning to meet the needs of their specific employees. Human Resource specialists within each government entity can work with their employees to identify the appropriate courses to meet their development needs, set an achievable timeline to complete the courses and monitor progress against goals. This can be directly linked to an employee's National Development Plan. Courses Offered in the Portal: - Business - IT - Computer Skills - Human Resources - Marketing - Personal Development - Management In addition to the more customizable features, the e-Learning Portal also offers a revamped course catalogue that is more in line with the latest trends in business and IT. Many of the more popular IT certificates from organizations such as Microsoft and Cisco are available through the portal, as well as PMI registered courses. The courses utilize a variety of multimedia platforms to engage the learner. "We know people who take the courses will be impressed by the variety being offered and their high quality," said Al-Mansouri. The full course catalogue can be viewed at this link. The online courses generally take about four hours to complete and must be completed within a two-week time period once started. For each course completed with a score of 80%, employees will receive a completion certificate that can be printed online. The e-Learning Portal was first launch in May 2007. To date more than 3,700 individuals have taken courses through the e-Learning portal.
