Qatar Petroleum lays foundation stone for multi million riyal comples

The foundation stone for a multi-million riyal “NGL support campus complex” for Qatar Petroleum ‘s Gas Operations was laid by HE the Minister of Energy and Industry, Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada at Mesaieed yesterday. Among the proposed facilities at the complex are a new laboratory, administration building, fire station and canteen. QP Gas Operations under the Operations Directorate is primarily responsible for meeting the fuel and feedstock requirements of Qatar’s power plants and a large number of downstream industries. After meeting the local requirements, valuable LPG and condensate products are exported. For more than three decades, the Gas Operations has been successfully meeting its responsibilities by safely and efficiently managing the following major assets of QP across Qatar onshore and offshore – North Field Alpha offshore gas production platform complex, Khuff gas production facilities in Dukhan, NGL Complex gas processing facilities at Mesaieed and transmission and distribution pipelines network and corridors throughout Qatar. QP ‘s Gas Operations is certified to ISO 9001 for Quality Management System, ISO 14001 for Environment Management System and OHSAS 18001 for Occupational Health and Safety System. QP Operations manager Eid Mubarak al-Muhannadi welcomed the minister and other guests who attended the ceremony. He provided an overview of Gas Operations activities and achievements in the field of gas production, gas processing and gas transmission and distribution. He especially highlighted the contributions of QP Gas Operations towards Qatar’s development by being the principle supplier of fuel gas and hydrocarbon feedstock to a wide array of industries and power plants in Qatar. Demonstrating QP Gas Operations’ commitment towards sustainable development as per the Qatar 2030 National Vision Document, various on-going HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) and Operations initiatives were separately highlighted. Al-Muhannadi also expressed his gratitude and appreciation to al-Sada and Said al- Mohannadi, QP director (Operations) for their continued support and guidance. Al-Sada presided over a recognition ceremony for retired long-serving ex-Gas Operations staff. He also distributed to the department managers the “Gas Operations 2012″ awards. Said al-Mohannadi presented al-Sada with a commemorative memento to mark the occasion. At Mesaieed the minister inaugurated an exhibition showcasing the achievements and activities of various departments of QP ‘s Gas Operations.
