Doha March 28:Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO) aims to sign up a record number of Qatari students for its prestigious scholarship and graduate trainee programs at this year’s Qatar Career Fair 2013. To support its ambitious growth and Qatarization plans, the Middle East’s leading ethylene and low-density polythene (LDPE) producer has set itself the target of securing interest from the large number of talented Qatari students that will visit the Career Fair next week. The award-winning employer intends to increase the participation of Qataris in its workforce. “We are expecting a record-breaking turnout of young Qataris at this year’s career fair,” explains QAPCO’s Vice Chairman and Chief Executive officer Dr Mohammed Yousef Al-Mulla “QAPCO’s objective is to generate interest from Qatari students to participate in our highly regarded scholarship programs, as part of our drive to develop local talent in support of the Qatar National Vision 2030. The company is committed to fulfilling the vision of His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar to increase the participation of Qatari nationals in the workforce.” This year’s Qatar Career Fair (QCF) is taking place between the 1st and 6th April 2013 at the Qatar National Convention Center. According to the event’s organizers, it is aimed at “empowering Qatari youth to take charge of their own future” – an aim fully supported by QAPCO. Over 125 exhibitors will be joining QAPCO at the event, which is the highlight of Qatar’s annual recruitment calendar. “We offer young Qataris an exciting career path that delivers stimulating challenges alongside world-class training and competitive remuneration. Our vision in nationalizing our workforce is aligned with Qatar Petroleum ‘s strategy and the Qatarization plan for the Oil & Gas sector, under the wise guidance of His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-Sada Minister of Energy & Industry, Chairman and Managing Director of Qatar Petroleum . This vision supports the attraction and recruitment of the maximum number of nationals, in-line with possible input from the local labor market, to extend the maximum support to prepare this talented youth to take over management and leadership roles in the company. At QAPCO, we built and develop talent and the future leaders of tomorrow. ” continues Dr. Al-Mulla. “The career fair provides QAPCO with the opportunity to communicate our vision and values to a new generation of Qatari employees and future business leaders, our vision is aligned with the Qatar National Vision 2030, which is very ambitious, yet an inspiring vision for the sustainable development of the state of Qatar. One of the most important pillars is Human Development, and the creation of a cognizant generation of Qatari Nationals is crucial to lead the industrial and economic evolution of the state of Qatar through the promising future. Our role is to ensure that the vision can become a reality by offering valuable initiatives and motivating careers.” Student opportunities at QAPCO include fully funded undergraduate scholarships, with training and summer internship opportunities in Qatar and overseas. And there are plenty of technical and non-technical opportunities for non-student Qatari citizens who are seeking a rewarding and exciting career with a truly global company. QAPCO’s award-winning Qatarization strategy has resulted in Qatari citizens making up over 30% of the company’s total manpower. The firm’s Chief Administration Officer (CAO) Mr. Rashid Al Sulaiti is determined that this year’s fair will continue to contribute to the number of Qataris in the workforce. “The career fair provides us with an opportunity to demonstrate that QAPCO offers a diverse, dynamic and enjoyable choice for Qatari graduates.” Mr. Al Sulaiti continues: “People are at the center of everything we do, and are vital to the company’s success and future growth. Our growth plans are ambitious, and we are seeking to recruit the highest caliber of students to ensure that we not only achieve our own plans, but also support the Qatar National Vision 2030.” QAPCO has already made significant achievements: in 2012, QAPCO was awarded for the second consecutive year the prestigious Annual Qatarization Award from QP, in recognition of the company’s work to create the right environment to attract, retain and develop Qatari citizens. QAPCO is repeating its highly successful initiative of having senior Departmental Managers attend the event. Thereby, visitors to the careers fair will have the opportunity to speak directly to managers within QAPCO, and gain detailed insights into how the company works on a day-to-day basis. This initiative, says Human Resource & Learning Manager Mr. Nasser Al Hajri, provides employment seekers with the opportunity to get answers about career prospects from specialists in their field. “Whether they are engineering, science or business graduates, students attending the fair will have the opportunity to speak to a manager who is expert in their discipline and who can provide insights into the realities and benefits of working at QAPCO.” Students and professionals are encouraged to visit the QAPCO booth at stand EI-P03 in Hall 9 where they will learn about the exciting career and scholarship opportunities available.
