Qatar Motor Show 2017 Opens Doors

Qatar Motor Show 2017, one of the most anticipated events of the year, officially opened its doors on the 18th of April at the Doha Exhibition and Conference Center (DECC) in the presence of HE Mr. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti , Minister of Transport and Communications, HE Minister of Municipality and Environment Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Rumaihi, Mr. Ahmed Al Obaidli, Director of Exhibitions Department at Qatar Tourism Authority, Sheikh Sultan Bin Fahed Al Thani,Events Manager at Fira Qatar, and Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani. The event welcomed VIPs, retailers, media, influencers and car enthusiast from across Qatar and the region. The latest edition of the automotive event is jointly organized by the Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) and Fira Qatar.

Prior to the official opening, local and regional media were taken on a grand tour of the show. HE Mr. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti, Minister of Transport and Communication, opened the VIP tour which took guests across the 12,000 sqm showroom, where brand exhibitors showcased 110 automotive vehicles including 8 cars revealed for the first time in the region and 14 local car launches.

Leading international carmakers introduced top sports, luxury and mid-range automotive models and branded lifestyle goods. The show saw the launch of the BAIC brand for the first time in Qatar, in addition the launch of Mercedes’s E-Coupe, E43 and SLC 43, Lexus’s Lexus LC 500, Chevrolet’s Tahoe Midnight Edition, Trailblazer Z71, Camaro ZL1, Malibu Turbo, and Silverado Midnight Edition. The show also featured the launch of Ford’s Fiso Raptor, Lincoln’s Lincoln Continental, Ram’s 1200 and 1500 limited editions, Hyundai’s IONIQ Hybrid, and Genesis’s Genesis G90 and Genesis G80. The reveals cement the show’s leading position as a regional platform for exclusive reveals while reinforcing Qatar’s position as a premium business events destination.

In celebration of its 7th anniversary, Qatar Motor Show is taking the theme of innovation as its title, promising fans an experiential event never seen before. Latest technology, innovation, and performance trends are giving international carmakers the opportunity to interact with consumers, offering hands-on experiences with their products and technology.

Classic cars enthusiast will be pleased to go back in time and discover a 5,000 sqm showroom embellished by some of the rarest and most iconic pieces in the world. The cars showcased are presented by the Sheikh Faisal Museum, strategic partner Mawater and Al Fardan.

A product of partnerships, Qatar Motor Show was supported by Qatar Airways, Shangri-la Hotel, Careem, Commercial Bank, Qatar Insurance Company, Mawater, Xtrok, Batabeet, Melia Doha, and media partners including Q-Motor, Maquina, MBC Online, I Love Qatar, Arab Motors, Wekalat and Bq Magazine.

Mawater, the show’s strategic partner, is a classic car and motorcycle club that was founded to support, unite and represent the mutual interests of historic vehicle owners and enthusiasts of Qatar, while educating the general public on the industrial heritage and promote responsible and safe driving. In addition to showcasing iconic cars at the classic cars exhibition with the Sheikh Faisal Museum and Al Fardan, Mawater is treating Doha to a daily extravagant classic car parades including that will set off from the VIP parking of DECC everyday at 3:00PM and will include sedan classic cards parade on the 19th of April, a sport muscle cars parade on the 20th of April, a GCC mixed classics on the 21st of April and a pick-up classic trucks parade on the last day of the show, the 22nd of April.

Batabit, a center that aims to effectively participate in building a generation of responsible riders equipped with the best riding skills and knowledge, hosted a speed bikes parade on the 19th of April and will continue to host a series of biking parades including a choppers parade, and a spiders parade, while wrapping the show on the 22nd of April with what to promises to be a stellar performance at the Doha corniche.
