Qatar gears up for Eid al Adha celebrations

Different municipalities of Qatar are taking preparations for Eid al-Adha holidays in a way that enhances safety and security, maintains order, as well as promises every citizen, resident and visitor of Qatar the chance to enjoy the grand festival.

Special cleaning operation

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment, represented by the General Cleanliness Department, has strengthened its endeavors for preparing the city to celebrate Eid al Adha. According to a report by Peninsula Qatar, the ministry had planned a unique programme to provide special teams to monitor the cleaning operation round-the-clock.

“Cleaning operation will continue round-the-clock during Eid Al Adha. Field teams have been set up for this occasion to cover all areas with special focus on public places which attract huge number of visitors like Corniche, public parks, picnic places, beaches, central market and abattoirs,” said Al Shafi.

He also said that these areas are being given great important because they produce large quantity of waste which required more garbage bins and constant cleaning services.

The General Cleanliness Department has intensified efforts in order to prepare Eid Al Adha prayer grounds throughout the country which include removing wastes and paving the land to provide worshipers with comfortable experiences to perform their Eid Al Adha prayers.

The Department has been offering this great serve for years to provide comfortable places for worshipers to perform Eid prayer across Qatar.

“Designated Eid Al Adha prayer grounds are being given special focus to provide cleaning services with authorities concerned,” said Safar Al Shafi, Director of General Cleanliness Department .

Since Eid Al Adha is around the corner, everyone is busy doing their Eid shopping.The summer sales under QSF 2018 have also not finished yet, hence, it is a superb chance to shop for Eid. The exciting summer sales are going to end on August 31, therefore, shoppers are visiting different malls to avail the attractive promotional offers.

Aside from availing numerous promotional offers, visitors are also relishing different colourful activities happening at various shopping centers.

According to a report by Peninsula Qatar, people in Qatar are enjoying discounts up to 50 percent on popular brands including attires, electronics, cosmetics and accessories for men, women and children at the participating malls including Al Khor Mall, City Centre, Doha Festival City, Gulf Mall, Hyatt Plaza, Lagoona Mall, Landmark Mall, Mall of Qatar, Tawar Mall, The Gate Mall, Villaggio, Ezdan Mall and Dar Al Salam Mall.

Tailors around Qatar are passing busy time in order to deliver their orders on time. Qatari customers usually tailor several thobes (the local men's dress) as part of preparations for the Eid. According to local Arabic daily Arrayah, the shops are making all necessary arrangements to provide their customers with various types of fabrics for the purpose, mostly imported from Japan, China, Thailand and Indonesia. In particular, shops at Souq Al Ali are getting a lot of requests for new dresses for Eid al-Adha. Thobe-making rates are mostly fixed, starting at QR35 for children and QR50 for adults.

Different municipalities of Qatar have started providing final touches to Eid preparations particularly related to slaughter of sacrificial animals. The municipalities at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment have announced their readiness for Eid Al Adha through strengthening monitoring of food establishments especially slaughterhouses, butcheries as well consumer complexes.

The municipalities have also recommended people to get their animals slaughtered only at abattoirs and not at home to ensure the safety of meat as abattoirs have veterinary doctors to check the health of animals.

Qatar Charity has taken a great initiative to share the pleasure of Eid to all as they have announced the launch of the ‘Offer an Udhiyah, Share the Happiness’ campaign, marking the start of the Eid al-Adha season.

According to a report by Gulf times, the campaign wishes to provide 39,854 sacrificial (‘Qurbani’) cattle, which include cows and sheep, within Qatar and 28 other countries throughout Asia, Africa and Europe. The campaign will benefit around 900,000 people and also provide Eid clothes for children in dire need, QC has said in a press statement. The campaign will provide 7,000 sacrificial cattle in Qatar and benefit 24,000 people, according to QC. The ‘Qurbani’ will be delivered to low-income families, widows, orphans as well as elderly people over the third and fourth days of Eid. The ‘Qurbani’ delivery will also include farm workers in Simaisma, Al Ghariyah, Abu Nakhla, Al Sheehaniya, Al Khreib, Al Wakrah, Al Khor and Al Jumayliyah.
