The Qatar Central Bank intends to put the fifth issue of the Qatari currency (a new version) into circulation to coincide with the National Day celebrations, on Friday, December 18th. The Central Bank will hold a press conference on this occasion on Sunday.

The fourth issue of Qatari Riyal banknotes, introduced in 2003, featured added security features including holographic security threads and plastic foil see-through windows, according to Leftovercurrency.
