Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) announced the conversion of all non-clinical (psychological and moral) support programs provided to cancer patients into electronic programs through support groups on social media to broadcast educational videos and instructions to maintain health and safety.

The electronic programs is offered by a select group of experts and specialists in all relevant topics, in addition to allocating a direct line of communication to patients and their families to answer all questions and inquiries in all topics that concern them.

H.E. Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatar Cancer Society Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Jabor Al-Thani, said that this step comes in the framework of the preventive and precautionary measures taken by the State of Qatar in order to reduce the spread of Coronavirus (Covid-19), as QSC has taken many electronic plans that included most of its awareness programs, whether those concerned with people living with the disease or educational campaigns, as well as those concerning professional development and scientific research in the field of cancer.

His Excellency added that with regard to material support programs that are provided to patients, QCS continues to receive requests for financial support to cover the costs of treatment at the associations headquarters from 10 am to 1 pm, temporarily until the completion of urgent and necessary electronic procedures to submit support requests after contacting the National Center for Cancer Care and Research (NCCCR) and Sidra Medicine to arrange the electronic mechanism.

His Excellency explained that a number of short awareness videos are currently being produced aiming at adopting a healthy lifestyle through practicing sports provided by specialists to stimulate the body and strengthen the immune system, which can be done from within the home in line with the current conditions, as well as awareness videos related to healthy food and how to prepare healthy dishes inside the home and emphasize the role of food in tackling diseases through strengthening the immune system provided by dietitians.

HE Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatar Cancer Society also mentioned the application of the teleworking system, provided that the direct attendance at the QCSs headquarters will take place for some of the employees that require their presence, especially those related to the management of patients treatment as a transitional phase.
