Qatar and South Korea sign pact to boost ties

A round of official talks was held here yesterday between Qatar and South Korea chaired by HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and South Korean Prime Minister Han Seung-soo. The talks held at the headquarters of the Korean prime minister featured bilateral ties and ways to develop them in various fields, especially in the economy and trade sectors. The talks were attended by HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Industry Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah, HE the Minister of State for International Co-operation Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah, Director of the Office of HH Heir Apparent HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani, Director of the Asian and African Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Abdulrahman Mohamed al-Khuleifi, Qatari Ambassador to Korea Ali bin Hamad al-Marri, the office Director of the Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Investment Authority, Mansour Ibrahim al-Mahmoud. On the Korean side Vice-minister of government policy Choe Dong Wen, Director of Foreign and Security policy Kim Yoon-Suk, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Juan Jong Rak, Korean Ambassador to Qatar Kim Jong-Yong, and Vice-Minister of the Office of International Trade and Investments at the Ministry of Economy and Knowledge, Li Dong were present. Following the talks, the Heir Apparent and the Korean prime minister witnessed the signing of an agreement to establish a joint Qatar-South Korea committee. The agreement was signed for Qatar by HE the Minister of State for International Co-operation Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah, while for Korea it was signed by Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Juan Jong Rak. Later HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and his accompanying delegation attended a dinner banquet hosted by the Korean Prime Minister Han Seung-soo at his office in Seoul. The banquet was attended by a number of Korean ministers and businessmen, Qatar’s ambassador to Korea Ali bin Hamad al-Marri, Korean Ambassador to Qatar Kim Jong-Yong and Oman’s Ambassador to Korea Moussa Hamadan al-Tai’e, who is also the doyen of the Arab diplomatic corps in Korea.- QNA http://gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=293040&version=1&template_id=36&parent_id=16
