Doha: A Doha-bound Qatar Airways flight coming from Vienna (Austria) diverted to Budapest for a safe landing following a false fire alarm, an aviation portal reported yesterday. Qatar Airways flight QR-94 with 95 passengers and eight crew landed safely on the Budapest run way 35 minutes after the crew received a cargo fire indication, according to Aviation Herald. “Responding emergency services found no trace of fire, heat or smoke, the airplane subsequently taxied to the apron where passengers disembarked normally. The smoke detector was identified faulty,” said the report. A spokesman of Qatar Airways in Doha confirmed the incident saying that the airplane had a “precautionary landing” in Budapest following a false fire alarm. He didn’t give further details.
