More than 800 Arab and foreign journalists are expected to converge in Doha to cover the 24th Arab Summit being held from March 26 to March 27. The preparatory meetings for the Summit began here yesterday. The media centre at the Doha Sheraton is equipped with latest technology, head of the Media Committee of the summit Sheikh Ahmed bin Faisal Al Thani told Qatar News Agency (QNA) yesterday. Ten buses will be available to ferry the media team between the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC), the conference venue, and the hotels they will be staying during the summit. Special emergency units are being set up at the Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) to deal with any emergency cases involving conference delegates.. Medical services will be available round the clock in the conference halls and hotels where the delegations will stay. There will be makeshift clinics at the conference venue and the hotels to serve the delegates round the clock, with one doctor, one nurse, and one ambulance each. About 150 additional limousines and 30 buses and vans have been hired to ferry the delegates from the Doha International Airport to the hotels and the QNCC. Ten sub committees have been formed under the main organising committee led by HE Dr Khalid bin Mohammad Al Attiyya, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. These committees are for drafting, security, protocol, media, medical care, IT, lodging and transportation and escort. http://thepeninsulaqatar.com/qatar/230104-over-800-scribes-to-converge-in-doha-for-24th-arab-summit.html
