Ooredoo, Wheel The World partners to make Qatar accessible to all

Qatar's leading telecommunications operator today announced a partnership with Wheel The World aimed at opening up the many tourist attractions in Qatar to all.

Wheel The World promotes tourism for those with disabilities, raising awareness of the challenges they face when choosing travel options and working to make experiences possible. The collaboration has many high-profile backers including celebrities and influencers such as Samanta Bullock, Ghanim Al Muftah, and Ahmed Al Shahrani.

Via the new partnership, Ooredoo will create unique experiences in Qatar for visitors with additional needs, leveraging its 5G network and technology. Using Google Assistant API, the telco leader will offer a booking portal and a pre-trip virtual assistant so visitors can use it to plan their trip in advance.

Speaking of the new partnership, CEO of Ooredoo Kuwait Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Thani said: "We're delighted to be working with Wheel The World and using Google Assistant API technology to make Qatar accessible to all, and this initiative is an ideal opportunity for us to live our Ooredoo brand pillars. In making a difference to those with disabilities were Caring; were Challenging the current status that some activities in Qatar - such as dune bashing - are off-limits to those with disabilities; and were Connecting people with disabilities all over the world to enable them to book unique experiences in Qatar via the Ooredoo and Wheel The World branded booking portal. We want to make the incredible experiences our wonderful country has to offer available to all, and we look forward to welcoming visitors of all abilities to enjoy them."

The collaboration between Ooredoo and Wheel the World is accomplished together with strategic partners Qatar National Tourism Council, Accessible Qatar, Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy and Plug and Play and supported by Qatar Airways, Katara Hospitality, Sharq Village and Spa, Embrace Doha, Qatar International Adventures, and 365 Adventures.

For her part, Chief Consumer Officer of Ooredoo Fatma Sultan Al Kuwari said that the company was committed to launching the initiative to mark the International Day of Disabled Persons' celebrations. She stressed that Ooredoo has always focused on this segment of society. She added that the cooperation with Wheel the World was in the context of the company's support of the efforts to organize Qatar World Cup 2022 and to make the country a tourist destination to all people around the world.

She added that facilitating tourism for everyone was an important strategy for Qatar, and as a result the company is prioritizing it. She noted that the initiative has its own website that allows any person around the world to know the services and activities to people with disabilities who will visit Qatar. One of the features will be having a 5g connected wheelchairs, so that people with disabilities can remain connected to the internet all the time.

She thanked everyone connected with the initiative, including the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy and Katara Hospitality.
