The Ministry of Public Health announced that high protein chocolate bars do not meet halal requirements (containing protein from non-halal source), which are not imported by an authorized dealer in the State of Qatar. The products differ in composition from ordinary products on the domestic market with the same brands as Mars, Bounty, Snickers, and Milky Way.

The ministry said that this announcement comes in response to what has been raised in social media in this regard.

Halal requirements in imported foods are confirmed by certificates from accredited centers and through special laboratory analysis, the ministry said. The ministry called on all not to buy the products through the internet or through personal sources for not meeting the halal requirements.

As part of the precautionary measures, the ministry directed its inspectors to ensure that the markets are free from the items and circulate to the ports not to allow their entry even if they are in non-commercial quantities.
